Fergus' Fund at Addenbrooke's
Many of you were extremely generous in donating to Fergus' fund at Addenbrooke’s. The little fella spent over five weeks in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and was cared for by an extremely dedicated team, led by the marvellous Rob Ross-Russell.
So far we have raised over £7500 for PICU and with this money have bought a ‘babypod’ for the ward – a special piece of equipment which allows babies to be safely transported. Special mention goes out to Ally Salt who skydived for Fergus at the start of 2008 and raised a massive £2132! This meant so much, not only because of the amount and the nerve-jangling experience that Ally put herself through but also because we hadn't raised any money for Addenbrooke's for a couple of years. Thanks to the local restaurant Edwinns for stumping up the money to pay for the skydive!
Other fundraising activities include:
- The staff at Rees Thomas School, Cambridge raised a significant amount by donating to the fund instead of sending Christmas cards
- Ely Runners raised £160 by matching what they raised with their annual raffle.
- George Tomlinson School, London donated some of the money from their christingle service to the fund.
- Charity book stall - this is an ongoing project at Steve's work where people donate their unwanted books and others pay a small fee to buy them.
- Busking for charity - the talented Chrisha Vadamootoo entertained the crowds of Cambridge with his guitar playing and singing (Nov 2005).
- Charity gig - CB2 was the venue for an evening of entertainment in November 2005. Four up and coming Cambridge bands including Chrisha's Action Force appeared at the gig.
